One of the most expensive consoles ever, especially with its pricing in Euro-based countries, the PS5 Pro has hit yet another bump. Sony, already under criticism for selling the physical media drive and vertical stand separately, is now facing backlash over another disappointing decision. Here are the details you need to know…
PS5 Slim covers won’t fit the PS5 Pro!
Another controversy has emerged regarding Sony’s highly anticipated new console, the PS5 Pro. Already a topic of discussion due to its high price and the separate sale of its physical drive, the console now faces an issue with cover compatibility.
According to a chart published on Amazon Japan (above), the PS5 Pro’s covers are not compatible with the existing PS5 Slim model. This could be disappointing news for PS5 Slim owners who have invested in special edition covers.
In terms of technical details, the top cover area of the PS5 Pro differs from that of the PS5 Slim by about 2.5-5 cm. Interestingly, while the bottom covers are compatible between the two models, this design difference in the top cover will force users to purchase new covers.
Sony’s decision has sparked significant backlash, especially among players who invested in limited edition covers for collection purposes. Given that the vertical stand and disk drive are already sold separately, transitioning to the PS5 Pro is becoming increasingly expensive for users.
Despite these drawbacks, there are also positive developments regarding the console’s technical specifications and game performance. According to information shared by a game developer, games optimized for the new console are already in the works. Two open-world games developed on the Unreal Engine platform are reportedly being prepared for exclusive versions on the device.
